- What it is
- A home-office hybrid for people staying days or months. The Zoku Loft lifts the bed onto a raised platform and frees the floor for a kitchen, storage and a four-seat table for working or hosting. Rooftop social spaces replace the lobby, with coworking, a restaurant and a community programme.
- The gap
- Before drawing a plan, the founders interviewed 150 travelling professionals. Two problems kept coming up: hotel rooms are built around the bed and fail anyone staying more than a few nights, and weeks away from home are lonely.
- The answer
- Private space downstairs, social space upstairs and a team whose job is to connect guests with each other and the city. Every Zoku is B Corp certified, and Zoku Amsterdam was among the first hotels in the world to certify, in 2018.
