Banan Alhazmi is a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Science and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), specializing in sustainable membrane materials and processes. Her research focuses on innovating solutions for resource recovery and capture, driving circular economy principles in critical areas such as the water, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. With a solid foundation in chemical and biological engineering from Oregon State University (B.Sc.) and KAUST (M.Sc.), she holds a robust background in both academia and industry. During her research internship at Saudi Aramco, she worked on developing polymeric composite materials for applications in the oil and gas industry. As the Public Relations Lead for the Students for Sustainability Organization at KAUST, she plays a critical role in steering student-led initiatives to drive a change toward sustainability aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Her dedication lies in integrating and fostering discussions on sustainable frameworks across diverse sectors, particularly in daily practices.
