Robert Mukiza is the Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), the statutory agency mandated to initiate and support measures that enhance investment in Uganda and advise Government on policies conducive to investment promotion and growth. He leads the Authority's drive to position Uganda as one of East Africa's fastest-growing investment and tourism destinations, spearheading the national Tenfold Growth Strategy - the ambition to expand Uganda's economy from USD 50 billion to USD 500 billion by 2040 - and championing investment across the country's priority ATMS sectors: Agro-industrialisation, Tourism, Mineral-based industrial development, and Science, Technology and Innovation. Under his leadership, UIA continues to facilitate strategic partnerships across the hospitality and tourism sectors, unlocking Uganda's exceptional natural assets and growing pipeline of tourism developments for international investors, operators and developers. An accomplished investment and international development professional, Robert brings extensive global experience to the role. Prior to joining the Authority, he served as Deputy Director for the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and Representative to Ethiopia, the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA); as a Director of Hong Kong-based Acadia Energy; Head of the United Nations Country Team Coordination Unit in Botswana; Lead Economist for the United Nations in the Maldives; and a researcher at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development in Switzerland. He holds a Master of Science in International Finance and Economic Development from the University of Kent and a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University, and has studied Strategic Leadership at the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School.
